Whether you are a beginner or a seasoned vaper, it’s important to keep your tank/pod and coils clean and free from buildup of old e-liquid. This can prolong the life of your coils, and prevent burnt or dry hits. In addition to preventing burnt hits, cleaning your vape coils lightly can help maintain the flavour of your e-liquid.

Build up from e-liquid is a common problem that affects many vapers. This buildup typically happens  on the top of the coil, cartridge, or wick of your vape device. This buildup can be visualy unappealing, but it can also negatively affect the flavor of your e-liquid. This can be a frustrating problem, and you should check to see if your coils and wicks are free of buildup before using them or if they will need to be changed completely. There are a few simple tips you can follow to remove the buildup and prevent burnt hits.

You should regularily check the level of e-liquid inside your pod/tank. If you have a refillable vape, this can be a simple process. Many tanks have a gauge that can show you how much e-liquid you have in the tank. You will be able to see this easily with a clear glass tank, or by simply removing your pod from the device and checking to see if there is an ample amount of e-liquid inside it. If you happen to vape your device while the tank is empty it will give you quite a harsh and burnt taste.

It is also important to always use the recommended wattage for your coils. The wattage should be printed on the coil packaging. Sometimes this can be directly inscribed into the coil itself. If you are not using the recommended wattage, you will not be able to vaporize your e-liquid correctly. If the wattage is below the recommended setting, your coil will not get hot enough, fast enough to vaporize your liquid and will result in spit-back. If you are raising your coil wattage above the recommended setting, the coil will get too hot, too quickly, and result in a burnt coil.

You can also prevent burnt hits by priming your coils. This is a very simple process, and can be done very quickly. Priming your coils helps to draw liquid into your coils and saturate the wick. Keeping your coils clean and free of buildup is the best way to prevent burnt hits. To prime your coils, simply add a small drop of e-liquid into the exposed white cotton spots around the coil.

Another way to prevent burnt hits is to not chain vape. This means you don’t want vape every few seconds. Chain vaping can result in burnt hits because you aren’t allowing the e-liquid to absorb. It also means that the coil is not able to cool down between hits which will wear your pod or coil down faster.

As long as you ensure that your pod or tank are filled correctly, you should not have to worry to often. Larger tanks and pods will offer the ability to need to fill your device less often. The downside is that they are clunkier in size, and will also be more of a burden to carry around. Smaller tanks and pods will offer a more compact travel size but you will need to be more wary of your e-liquid levels. This can be a little more tricky with a pre-filled pod system as you are restricted to whatever liquid had come pre-packaged inside the pod. In this instance the best thing to do is not chain vape your pre-filled pod systems and allow them time to cool down between puffs!
