Vape coils

Coils are the part of the vape that heat up to vaporize the eliquid. The vape coil determines what wattage to run the device at, how much cloud is produced and how flavourful the device is. A coil can be the difference between running a device at 200 watts with lots of vapor, and running a device at 12 watts to emulate a cigarette. Why does my vape taste burnt when I used a new coil?

Burnt Taste With New Coil

The most likely cause for a ‘burnt’ taste from a new vape coil is not allowing the coil to fully saturate. When adding juice to a new coil, always allow your coil to sit for 5-10 minutes to allow the cotton inside the coil to fully saturate with juice. If the coil has not been given time to absorb your e-juice, the cotton may not be saturated and can often burn.

How long do vape coils last?

How long does a vape coil last

There are many factors in how long your coil will last. Typically a coil will last about a week or more, but can be affected by other things. How often you use your vape and the type of juice you use would be the biggest factors in coil life. If you are vaping a sweeter juice (such as the Twelve Monkeys line of flavors) you can expect your coil life to be much shorter than an unflavored, or low-sweeter juice.

Which vape coils last the longest?

Longest Lasting Coil

You will typically find that ‘mesh’ coils have a longer life than traditional wire coils. This is because the mesh is evenly heated across the surface area of the cotton without any ‘hot spots’ you may find with traditional wire coils.

How to prime a coil?

Prime Vape Coils

To prime a coil, simply add a drop of juice to every visible opening on the coil. Allow the juice to disappear into the cotton before moving to the next section and repeating. You can then insert your coil into your tank and add your juice, allowing an additional 5-10 minutes after filling before using your new coil. If your coil is not accessible such as in a pod-style system, simply fill your vape and allow the same 5-10 minute wait time for the coil to saturate.

How often should I change my vape coil?

Frequency to change out coils

You should change your coil once you have noticed a burnt taste, or notice the quality of vapor has started to decline. The timeframe for changing your coil is dependent on how often you use your vape, the sweetness of your juice and size of your coil.

What vape coil is best for me?

Best Coil Option

The best coil for you is entirely subjective. You may find you enjoy a lower, sub-ohm style coil, providing you with additional flavour and vapour. You could also find you enjoy more of a tighter, constricted draw style, of which coils over 1.0ohms would be best for you. Try experimenting with different ohm coils to see which is best for your personal needs.
